Frequently Asked Questions

Your fingerprints are captured electronically, but they are not sent to a state agency. They are saved as an Electronic Fingerprint Transmission (EFT) file for you to upload to your Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) eForms application.

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. Make sure your name and date of birth match the information in your ATF eForms account.

Upload the EFT file to the correct person’s section of your ATF eForms application. Confirm that the name and date of birth are correct before submitting. An accepted EFT file replaces mailed paper fingerprint cards for that electronic submission.
